The Thrill Of The Hunt League Of Legends World Championship 2023
Thousands of fans gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to witness the opening ceremony for this year's League of Legends World Championships. As soon as the opening notes of 'We Will Rock You' by Queen rang out, a man dressed as a medieval knight came jousting onto the stage. He was followed by two more knights, who then battled each other using big sticks called lances and shields. They were joined by drummers who banged on drums to create an amazing rhythm and spectacle while they jousted with the sticks.
The Play In Stage
It's been a long time coming, but the League of Legends World Championship is finally upon us. And this year, the group stage has changed to the Play-In Stage. A total of twelve teams from different regions will battle it out for a spot in the next round, which will be played in Taiwan from October 1st to October 5th. One thing you should know about these teams is that only one team from each region can advance to the next round. Will your favorite team make it through? Or will we have some new Champions for all to enjoy? Find out this weekend.
The Group Stage
In the Group Stage, teams from all over the world compete to place top eight. Teams are seeded into four groups of three and play in a round-robin format. Each team will play every other team in their group once, for a total of six games.
Teams with one or more losses will have their tiebreaker determined by head-to-head record (3 points), game differential (+/-) (1 point), or whoever has the highest tournament seeding (-1 point). The first tiebreaker is used first, then the second if necessary, etc. If two teams have an equal record and tiebreakers can't break the tie, they are considered to be tied and will be seeded randomly in subsequent rounds.
The Knockout Stage
In the knockout stage, teams that have progressed past the Group Stage are pitted against one another in a single-elimination bracket. Teams will play until they lose twice, with the winners being determined by their number of wins. Games are played in a best-of-five series, with each team having to win three games in order for their opponent to be eliminated. The losers are out of the competition and must return home.
The Finals
It's been a long road, but the finals are finally here. Two teams, Samsung Galaxy and Royal Never Give Up, will battle it out for the crown at Worlds 2018. For Samsung Galaxy, it would be their first time to win Worlds. But for Royal Never Give Up, this is their second time to be in the finals. Will RNG take home another victory? Or will SSG have the honor of being crowned champions? Tune in this weekend to find out.
