When Bruce Lee died, he had more than half the footage for Game of Death finished. The film was originally intended to be a 15 minute short that would be used as an advertisement for his martial arts school. But when he passed away, his wife took over the project and created it into a feature-length film with added scenes and dialogue.
Bruce was initially supposed to die at the end of the movie, but after his death, they edited it so that he dies midway through the film instead. The original plan for the movie

Lee died on July 20th 1973, two months before Game of Death was released. He had been working out with his students when he suddenly slumped over and began vomiting blood. Doctors diagnosed him with cerebral edema which is caused by excess fluid buildup in the brain and can lead to respiratory failure and death if not treated quickly.

The different versions of the movie
There are a number of theories about what really happened to Bruce Lee. One theory is that he was killed by the mafia and another one is that he faked his death. Some people think that because he died so young it was somehow meant to happen, as if it was his time. It's also possible that he had a ruptured aneurysm. An aneurysm is when there's a bulge in the wall of the artery which can cause bleeding.
