Marvel Black Panther Wakanda Forever A Tribute to a world King

Advance tickets for the new Marvel Black Panther movie are now available online, and I am so excited to see it on the big screen that I cannot wait until February. The King of Wakanda has been one of my favorite Marvel comic book characters ever since he first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 in 1966, and I hope this film lives up to the hype. If you haven’t had the chance to see it yet, then here’s why you should take the time this February to watch this movie in theaters.

Marvel Black Panther Wakanda Forever A Tribute to a world King

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chadwick Boseman has had an enormous impact. He has been involved in three of their most popular franchises: Captain America, Avengers and Black Panther. His portrayal as T'Challa/Black Panther has created hype for the upcoming release of Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War. In his interview with NPR he stated, I think that's what people are responding to — it's not just someone trying on a suit and looking like they can be king. It's someone who is actually rooted in tradition, nobility and history.

The legacy of Wakanda

The Marvel Universe has always been one of the most diverse in all of pop culture. In recent years, the MCU has made strides for representation by featuring more women and people of color in major roles. The most recent example is the casting of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther T'Challa in Marvel's upcoming Captain America sequel, Civil War. After seeing his debut performance in last year's critically acclaimed biopic on Jackie Robinson, 42, it was clear that he would be up for the challenge.
One major lesson that America can take away from this film is that even under seemingly impossible circumstances, with unity and perseverance anything is possible.

The importance of representation

Representation matters. Representation matters because it shapes the way we view ourselves and how we engage with the world. Representations of people of color in mainstream media is important because representation is powerful, and it's important for people to see themselves reflected in their country's collective identity. It's important that children are able to see themselves as superheroes too.

The power of storytelling

T’Challa, as the main character in Marvel's new movie Black Panther, is not only an inspiration for me and many others for his strength, conviction and dedication to his people, but he is also someone I can relate with. Although we are very different in our circumstances and cultures, there are so many similarities between us. For example, one of the primary lessons that we share is that there can be no change without responsibility. It was no coincidence that when T’Challa took up the mantle of the king of Wakanda he also became its protector. He knew what needed to be done and had the power to do it.

The influence of Black Panther

It is hard to overstate the significance of the cultural phenomenon that was Marvel's Black Panther. The film not only shattered records at the box office, but it also became one of Marvel's most loved films ever made. With its release, Marvel introduced a new generation of young children (and adults) into a world where black superheroes are finally given the respect they deserve. The movie also served as an amazing tribute to African culture with its beautiful costumes and rich mythology.
